Practical Life: Children are presented with Montessori materials beginning with practical life activities. These exercises are used to develop coordination and concentration as well as providing an independent approach to the prepared environment. Back to Top


Sensorial: The classroom has materials designed to awaken the five senses. Presentations made by the teacher provide stimulation for the young child who will discover learning through the various senses.

Language: Language materials and activities prepare children to read and write. The exercises enrich language usage and enlarge the children's vocabulary. Furthermore, the language activites prepare students indirectly for further study in areas such as history, geography, and science.

Language activities include sandpaper letters, moveable alphabet metal insets, phonetic object boxes, etc.

Mathematics: The mathematic materials prepare children for the processes of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Through these exercises students learn the names of numbers and memorize number sequence. These activites also introduce the concepts of telling time and counting money.

Math activites include number rods, sandpaper numbers, spindle boxes, hundred board, etc.

Reading: In the Montessori environment, children have the opportunity to explore and nurture their natural curiosity by choosing the reading/listening corner during work time.

Cultural: Children are introduced to various cultures through pictures, art, and music. Maps with related pictures of various countries are presented by the teacher. The children exchange customs through plays, recipes, and costumes.
